Event Coordination
Event Coordination – Multiple BAS Events
- Employees may have multiple BAS events during the same period or even on the same day.
- This can affect benefit enrollments because the BAS module does not automatically reprocess finalized events when new events are created that change enrollments.
What to do:
- If multiple BAS events exist within the same period/day, any finalized BAS events with an effective date equal to or later than the new event must be reprocessed in order so that all changes are applied correctly.
- BAS events that need reprocessing will show the Out of Sequence flag.
How to identify them:
- Run the Report on Flagged Items to see events that require reprocessing.
- Navigation
- NavBar > Benefits > Manage Automated Enrollment > Investigate Exceptions > Report on Flagged Items
Example – Out of Sequence BAS Events
- An employee has a finalized, future-dated OE BAS event effective 1/1/2023 changing their plan from Anthem to Kaiser.
- On 11/15/2022, the employee has a Life Event (birth of a child) and adds the child to Anthem, changing coverage from Employee Only to Employee + Dependent.
- If the 1/1/2023 OE BAS event is not reprocessed, the new dependent will be missed and the employee will be enrolled in Kaiser with Employee Only coverage.
- Refer to the Reprocessing a CHRS BAS Event for step-by-step reprocessing instructions.
Permitting Event Codes Automatically Inserted by CSU_PERM_INS
The CSU_PERM_INS process automatically inserts permitting event codes for the OE BAS event, based on plan type.
How to view current configuration:
- Navigation
- NavBar > Set Up HCM > CSU Product Related Setup > CSU Benefits Setup > CSU Automate Perm Event Adds
-
When it runs:
- As part of the seasonal CSUBASOE nightly job schedule
- As part of the CSUBASDL nightly job schedule
-
Purpose:
- Inserts permitting event codes for OE BAS events.
-
Campus impact:
- Designed for Full ESS campuses.
- Also inserts permitting event codes for View-Only ESS campuses when the BAS event has a Process Status of ET (Entered).
