Automatic resignation due to non-reported / unauthorized absence.  Permanent separation used to separate an employee who is absent without official leave.

General Information:
  • For Bargaining units, this is controlled by contract.

  • Applies after 5 consecutive working days.

  • Refer to the respective CBA for represented employees, for applicable policy for non-represented employees. 

  • Refer to CA Ed Code 89541 that speaks to absence without leave. There is also CBA language that pertains to automatic resignations. Five consecutive days of unapproved/unauthorized leave is considered an automatic resignation.
