Field Characteristic Description
Code: A
Long Descr: Acting Appointment
Short Descr: Actg Appt
Definition: To be used when an individual is serving in that role on behalf of someone else who holds the position, with the assumption that the original incumbent will be returning.
General information: As campuses go live in CHRS, they are expected to use this consistently even if a process change is needed.
Business Rules:
  • This position is not vacant.
  • A new position number will be created for the substitute (acting).
  • Requires an end date.
  • Can be used for a Temporary employee moving to another Temporary position.

Note:  It is OK to leave substitute in the acting appt if the incumbent does not return until a final decision on how the position will be built.

Examples:

The occupant of this position is on leave, and a substitute is  backfilling until they return.

Since the incumbent is expected to return, the substitute will have the same Job Code and Department but a different position number.
