Retention, Tenure, and Promotion (RTP) Faculty Review

This job aid shows managers how to complete a Retention, Tenure, and Promotion (RTP) faculty review.

Background

The Retention, Tenure, Promotion (RTP) module manages tenured/tenure track faculty evaluation data, tracks review cycles, schedules evaluations, and captures recommendations and evaluation outcomes.

Faculty review

You can enter up to three review actions for an employee in a single review cycle within a review year.

Step 1: Click the Navbar button.

Step 2: Navigate to Faculty Reviews: Menu > CSU Retention, Tenure, Promo > CSU RTP Faculty Reviews > Faculty Reviews.

Step 3: Enter your business unit, then click Search to search for employees to review.

  • Optional: Use Advanced Search to search for a specific employee.

Step 4: Click the Business Unit link to open the record for that employee.

Step 5: Optional: If the employee does not have a record:

  1. Open the Add a New Value tab.
  2. Enter the employee and review year information.
  3. Click Add.

Step 6: Select a Review Action:

  • Evaluation of Tenured Faculty
  • Periodic “Mini” Evaluation
  • Professional Development Plan
  • Promotion
  • Retention
  • Serving Terminal Year
  • Tenure
Review action: Promotion
  • The following Review Actions/Results load to Job Data:
    • Promotion/Granted
    • Tenture/Granted or Denied
    • Retention/Denied

Step 7: Promotion only: Select Promotion to Rank value.

  • Optional: Select Opt Out if the employee has opted out of the promotion.

Step 8: Click the Show All Columns button.

Step 9: Update the approver fields to “Y,” for each approver.

Step 10: Select the Result:

  • Denied
  • Granted
  • Outstanding
  • Received
Result: Granted

Step 11: Enter the Effective Date.

Step 12: Optional: Postpone the review,

Reason for postponement: On Leave
  • Review Postponed is only valid for promotion. If you select this option, you must specify a reason.

Step 13: Promotion Only: Specify an R03 Min Salary Adv.

R03 Min Salary and Enhancement percent fields
  • Promotion requires a minimum salary increase of 9%.
  • Optionally add an enhancement on top of the salary advance.

Step 14: Click Save.
