Define Goals (Manager)

This job aid shows managers how to define goals for their employee's ePerformance evaluations.

Background

During the goal-setting phase, the manager and employee will have the opportunity to add goals, review competency information, and add professional development for the evaluation period. This phase will be used as a tool to assist employees in meeting their yearly goals and should be used as an opportunity for employee and manager to discuss their expectations for the year.

Define goals for your employee

Step 1: On your Manager Self-Service Homepage, click Team Performance tab.

Step 2: Click Current Documents.

Step 3: Click the row to select the Annual Evaluation for that employee.

Step 4: Under the Goal Setting navigation, click Update and Approve

Step 5: On the Goals tab, click Add Goal.

Step 6: Select "Add your own goal," then click Next.

Step 7: Complete the goal:

  1. Enter the title (Required)
  2. Enter optional information:
    • Description
    • Status
    • Percent complete
    • Due date
    • Start date
    • End date
  3. Click Add.

Review Competencies

You can view competencies and review them with your employee,s but there is nothing to edit.

Step 1: Click the Competencies tab.

Step 2: Review the competencies. Click the expansion icon to expand the competency.

Add Professional Development

You can create professional development goals for your employees.

Step 1: Click the Prof Development tab.

Step 2: Click Add Professional Development.

Step 3: Select "Add your own Professional Development," then click Next.

Step 4: Complete the form:

  1. Enter a title (Required).
  2. Enter a description (Optional).
  3. Click Add.

Step 8: When you are finished with your goals, click Save.

What do do next?

  1. Ensure that your employee has completed the employee goal-setting task.
  2. Schedule an appointment to review the goals.
