Overview

This job aid shows managers how to request an absence for an employee.

Request absence for an employee

Step 1: Open the Manager Self Service Homepage. If you have access to multiple Homepages, select Manager Self Service from the Homepage menu.

Step 2: Select the Team Time tile.

Team Time opens.

Step 3: From Team Time, click Request Absence.

Step 4: Select the employee to request the absence for.  You can select multiple employees.

Step 5: Click Continue.

Step 6: Select the Absence Name.

Step 7: Complete the request fields:

  1. *Begin Date.
  2. End Date.
  3. Verify the Duration.
  4. Enter Comments if needed.

Partial Days: To enter a partial day, select the Partial Days section.

Step 8: If the Check Eligibility button is visible, click it. Otherwise, skip this step.

  • If eligible, you can submit.
  • If not eligible, you cannot submit. , Check Eligibility: If this button is visible, you must select Check Eligibility before you submit.

Guidelines

  • Important: Do not edit the Workflow area.
  • The Check Eligibility button is displayed only if the employee must accrue the absence type.
  • Your employee’s accrued hours are displayed in the Balance Information section.
  • Open View Balances to view your employee’s sick leave, personal holiday, and vacation balances.
  • You can reduce the requested absence, then re-check eligibility.

Step 9: Select Submit.

Step 10: Select Yes to submit the request.

Submit yes or no

Your request is submitted. If you are the approver for this employee’s absence requests, the request is automatically approved.
