Create or Update Positions with Transactional Front End (TFE)

Overview

This job aid shows employees how to create and update positions with the Transactional Front End.

Background

Transactional Front End (TFE) is a new interface that HR staff can use to create and maintain staff jobs and positions (not students or temporary academic employment).

Request a new position

Step 1: On the Manager Self Service Homepage, click CSU Transactional Front End.

Step 2: Click CSU TFE Position Add/Change.

Step 3: Click Request a New Position.

Step 4: Enter an Effective Date.

  • After the Effective Date is entered, the Position Information fields are editable.
  • The Position Number is generated after the request is approved.

Step 5: Complete the appropriate Position Information fields:

  1. Effective Status
  2. Position Status
  3. Department
  4. Location Code
  5. Job code
  6. Regular/Temporary
  7. Full/Part Time
  8. Standard Hours
  9. FTE
  10. Reports To
  11. Max Head Count
  12. CSU Title
  13. CSU Unit
  14. Primary Fund Source
  15. MPP Job Family Code
  16. MPP Job Function
  17. MPP Rpt Cat

Step 6: Optional: Enter a Comment.

Step 7: Optional: Add an Attachment.

Step 8: Click Submit.

Copy a position

If there is a position similar to the one that you want to create, you can copy it and make changes to save time.

Step 1: On the Manager Self Service Homepage, click CSU Transactional Front End.

Step 2: Click CSU TFE Position Add/Change.

Step 3: Search for the position that you want to copy.

Step 4: Select the position to copy. Do not omit this step.

Step 6: Enter an Effective Date.

Update a position

You can update one or more positions at the same time.

Step 1: On the Manager Self Service Homepage, click CSU Transactional Front End.

Step 2: Click CSU TFE Position Add/Change.

Step 3: Search for the position or positions that you want to update.

Update a single position

Step 1: Select the position or positions to update.

Do not omit this step.

Step 2: Click Update. The button is at the bottom of the page.

Step 3: Enter a Reason Code and an Effective Date.

The read-only fields become editable.

Step 4: Edit the Position Information.

Update Multiple Positions

Step 1: Select multiple positions.

Step 3: Enter a Reason Code and an Effective Date.

  • After you enter this information more fields open for editing.

Step 4: Update applicable fields. Changes are highlighted in yellow.

Step 5: Click Submit.

View transaction status for your position requests

If you have requested a position change or a new position, you can view the transaction status of your requests.

Step 1: On the Manager Self Service Homepage, click CSU Transactional Front End.

Step 2: Click CSU TFE Position Add/Change.

Step 3: Open the View an Existing Transaction tab.

Step 4: Enter search criteria to find existing transactions.

  • Position Number
  • Effective Date
  • Department
  • Job Code
  • Workflow Status
  • Reports To Position Number

Step 5: Click Search. The page displays the search returns.
