Overview
This job aid shows approvers and payroll personnel how to use pushback to revise a Temporary Academic Employment (TAE) appointment so prior approvers can make revisions.
Background
- Mid-Process Revision is when an appointment is revised in the middle of the approval process.
- After the “Send Appt Notification” step, appointment changes on the My Approvals page will not be on the employee’s appointment notification unless it has been pushed back to a step prior to the notification sending.
Before you start
Have the appointment that you want revised open on My TAE Approvals page. See Approve TAE Appointments.
Pushback the appointment
Step 1: Carefully review the appointment to ensure that the mid-process revision is needed. Open each of the tabs to display the fields:
- Appt Data - displays appointment dates, pay, Timebase.
- Addl Data - displays action/reasons, retirement codes.

Step 2: Open the Notification tab.

Step 3: Take note of whether the appointment notification has been sent.

Step 4: Open the Approval tab.

Step 5: Click the Pushback lookup to select a prior step in the workflow.

Pushback guidelines:
- Push back to a step before the appointment notification was sent out in order to ensure that updates are included in the revised notification.
- If you select Step 0, an email will be sent directly to the originator, the other steps do not receive an email.
Step 6: Select the step in which the revision is required.

Step 7: Enter the reason for the pushback in the Reason field.

Step 8: Enter the reason for the pushback in the Comments field.
- The comments field is visible to the approvers, so use this field to relay information.

Step 9: Click Save & Submit.

- The system reverts the workflow to the specified prior step.
If you receive a pushback, make the updates and then approve to move the appointment forward. If you do not approve the step after the changes, the transaction will
