The assignment and responsibilities of a counselor faculty unit employee may include but shall not be limited to individual counseling, group counseling, consultation and referral, case management (including record keeping), intern training and supervision, teaching, service on systemwide and campus committees and task forces, and activities that foster professional growth including creative activity and research. For newly hired counselor faculty at CSU Stanislaus, this appointment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or if information was knowingly withheld or falsified. Faculty rehired at CSU Stanislaus after a break in service of 12 or more months who have not had a background check within the past 12 months will be subject to a new background check; rehire is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the new background check. All mental health clinicians appointed to the classification of Student Services Professional-Academic Related must be either currently licensed in California at the time of appointment or if unlicensed, must be licensed within 24 months of the initial appointment. If currently licensed within another state, you shall obtain licensure in California within one year. If you are unlicensed or possess a license within another state, you may provide care during the interim period of obtaining a license. Once licensed in California, you must maintain your license during the entire appointment period. License must be maintained to be eligible for reappointment to the SSP-AR classification.
