Action Reason

Indicates the reason the position was created or updated.  Action table with Action = POS  brings up a list of reasons that are a subset of the larger Action Reason table, and are used to define changes in Position.

Valid Value Rule(s):
  • For rules:  See Action/Reasons Guide with PIMS Mapping and PIMS Manual
  • For initial row for a position, accept default of 'New'.
  • Follow appropriate Business Process Guide to determine which Reason to select when updating.
  • Refer to Action-Reason Guide from the Standardization Landing Page.

Impacted Fields:Action and Action Reason combination determines the Employee Status, Payroll Status and Benefits Status

Update Incumbents functionality:  creates row in job data with Action of “POS” and Reason from Position Management Reason.

System Audits:Error:  “Action Reason is required (20100,4)   Please enter an Action Reason code.”
