FLSA Status

Represents the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status code.  FLSA codes indicate the employee's eligibility for overtime and are defined in the CSU Salary Schedule .  To determine the FLSA Status for a job code or skill level, search the job (class) code in the CSU Salary Schedule , then click the class/grade in the search results to view attributes. 

Note:  FLSA Status may be different for payroll purposes; see the FLSA Exemption Test Overview to determine the FLSA Status for payroll purposes.

  • Position Data - Defaults from Salary Grade Table 
  • Job Data - Defaults from Position Information. 
  • Status determined by Grade (Position), when Grade Position is changed FLSA Status will change, if appropriate

XExemptIndicates classifications or skill levels that are considered exempt under the FLSA "White Collar" Standard Duties tests applied to an employee in that classification.
NNon-ExemptIndicates classifications or skill levels that are considered non-exempt under the FLSA "White Collar" Standard Duties tests only.
OOtherIndicates the CSU classifications that qualify for the FLSA agricultural exemption.
