Overview
This job aid shows campus users how to copy a user profile.
Background
You might need to copy a user profile to create a new user with the same security settings as an existing user.
Copy User Profile
Step 1: Open the Navbar button.

Step 2: Navigate to Menu > PeopleTools > Security > User Profile > CHR Copy User Profiles
Step 3: Enter an existing User ID.
- You can use an existing user or your campus's user template. To use the template, search for ##XXXX, where:
- ## is your campus 2-digit code
- XXXX is the name of your campus
- Example: 20CHICO

Step 4: Enter the new User ID and Description. No spaces are allowed in the User ID.
- User ID is 2-digit campus code followed by 9-digit campus solutions EMPLID.
- In the Description Field, enter the user's name (first name followed by last name).
- Do not check the Clpy ID Type Information check box.

Step 5: Review the General tab to ensure the attributes and permission lists are set correctly:
- Symbolic ID
- Language
- Currency
- Permission Lists
Step 6: Click the ID tab. On the ID page:
- Select the Employee ID Type
- Select the Employee ID
If the fields on the ID tab are grayed out, you might need to navigate back to the Distributed User Profiles page and re-enter the new user ID.

Step 7: Add security roles to the new User Profile (if needed).
- Click the Roles tab.
- Click the Plus button to add a new role.
- Search for the role to add.
Do not update the BUSN email in the User Profile. ONLY touch the email in the CS side.
Step 8: Click Save.

If you want the user to be able to log in, you must disable lockout and add a temporary password.
Step 1: Clear the Account Locked Out check box.

Step 2: Check Change Password

Step 3: Enter and confirm a new password.

Step 9: Click Save.

Step 10: Provide the user with the current login ID and password and instructions on how to change the password.
