Enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (HCRA or DCRA)

This job aid shows employees how to enroll in a Flexible Spending Account during a Life Event.

Background

You are currently completing a Life Event and have decided to enroll in a flexible spending account. If you need to start a Life Event, go here: Life Event Quick-start Guide.

Flexible Spending accounts require you to complete a worksheet. In this worksheet, you specify the annual amount to contribute. The worksheet estimaes your costs per pay period.

Contribution is calculated based on the remaining pay periods during the year.

Enroll in Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA)

Step 1: On the Benefits Enrollment page, click a tile to open enrollment options for that benefit.

Step 2: Select an option.

Step 3: Calculate the contribution:

  1. Enter a number in the Annual Pledge field
  2. Click Flexible Spending Account Worksheet.

The Flexible Spending Account Worksheet opens.

Use the Worksheet to help you calculate your annual pledge based on the amount you will contribute from the remaining paychecks of the year.

Step 4: Click Calculate.

Step 5: Optional: Recalculate the contribution.

  1. Change charge period.
  2. Change Amount.
  3. Click Calculate.
  4. Click Done when you are satisfied with the contribution.

Annual pledge calculation is completed.

Step 6: Click Done. Your flexible spending option is updated.

Enroll in Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA)

Dependent care reimbursement is optional.

Step 1: On the Benefits Enrollment page, click a tile to open enrollment options for that benefit.

Step 3: Calculate contributions:

  1. Enter a number in the Annual Pledge field
  2. Click Flexible Spending Account Worksheet.

The Flexible Spending Account Worksheet opens.

Use the Worksheet to help you calculate your annual pledge based on the amount you will contribute from the remaining paychecks of the year.
