1.0 How to Sign In to Snowflake
Use the following link to access Snowflake Data Sharing:

2.0 Accessing Snowflake Data Sharing

SSO Users:
- For SSO users, sign in using Single Sign-On (SSO):

Non-SSO Users:
- For non-SSO users, sign in using your Snowflake account credentials:
- Username
- Password
- For non-SSO users, sign in using your Snowflake account credentials:
***(Please note that first-time users will be prompted to change their password.)

3.0 The Snowflake Data Sharing Console
After signing in, the Snowflake Data Sharing console opens, and you will see the recently updated worksheets.
- The “recent” section will be blank if it is your first time signing in to Snowflake and you have not executed a SQL query.
4.0 Creating Worksheets in Snowflake
A Worksheets provide a powerful and versatile method for running SQL queries, as well as performing other Snowflake data loading, definition, and manipulation tasks.
- To create a “Worksheet” in Snowflake:
- Select + Create » SQL Worksheet on the homepage.
- OR
- Select Projects » Worksheets to open the list of worksheets.

- Select + and select SQL Worksheet to create a worksheet.
- The worksheet opens in the same window with the date and time of creation as the default title.
- You can then start writing queries in your worksheet.

5.0 Role and Warehouse
To select the Role and Warehouse for the SQL Worksheet:
- Select:
- Role: DB_CSU_IR_ADMIN
- Warehouse: DBADMIN_WH
Important Note:
The “Role” and “Warehouse” selected above is only an example. Please select the “Role” and “Warehouse” appropriate for your campus. The dropdown options will vary based on campus and access level.

6.0 Database and Schema
To select the Database and Schema for the SQL Worksheet:
- Select:
- Databases: DB_CSU_IR
- Schemas: PUBLIC
Important Note:
The “Databases” and “Schemas” selected above is only an example. Please select the “Databases” and “Schemas” appropriate for your campus. The dropdown options will vary based on campus and access level.
7.0 Tables in Snowflake
To see a list of the tables you have access to in Snowflake:
- Locate the panel on the left side of the SQL Worksheet.
- Select the Database (ex. DB_CSU_IR) » Schema (ex. PUBLIC) » Tables.

8.0 Loading Data
- To load data into the table:
- Locate the panel on the left side of the SQL Worksheet.
- Select DB_CSU_IR » PUBLIC
- Select "three dots" next to PUBLIC, to open menu options.


- Select Load Data.

- The “Load Data into Table” window will open.

9.0 Sharing SQL in Snowflake
- To share a SQL in Snowflake:
- In the SQL Worksheet, select “Share”.
- In the Share window, type the user’s name in the “Invite by name or username” section.

- The user will appear in the share list.
- Next to the user’s name, select the “View Results” drop down.
- Select the results you would like to share with the user:
- Edit
- View + Run
- View Results
- Select the results you would like to share with the user:

- Select “Done”.

- Please note that the user you shared the SQL with can view the SQL in the “Shared with me” section on the Snowflake homepage.
10.0 Creating Folders in Snowflake
To create a new folder in Snowflake:
- From the Snowflake Home page, select + and select “Folder” to create a new folder.
- In the New Folder Window, add a name for your folder.
- Select “Create Folder”.

11.0 Sharing Folders in Snowflake
To share a Folder in Snowflake:
- In the Folder you created or the existing Folder you want to share, select “Share”.
- In the Share window, type the user’s name in the “Invite by name or username” section.

- The user will appear in the share list.
- Next to the user’s name, select the “View Results” drop down.
- Select the results you would like to share with the user:
- Edit
- View + Run
- View Results
- Select the results you would like to share with the user:

- Select “Done”.

- Please note that the user you shared the folder with can view the folder in the “Shared with me” section on the Snowflake homepage.
12.0 Requesting Access to Snowflake
Use the ServiceNow BIDO User Management form to request access to the following Snowflake related dashboards/applications:
- Snowflake Query Access - Campus
- Snowflake Query Access – Systemwide
